COVID-19 AND HUMANITIES RESEARCH IN HONG KONG — Call for Abstracts (Deadline: 31 October 2020)

 

The topic of the 2020 edition of Backreading Hong Kong Annual Symposium is “COVID-19 and Humanities Research in Hong Kong”. We welcome presentations on the challenges, discoveries, and developments in any branches of humanities during the pandemic, focusing specifically on Hong Kong.

 

The 2020 Backreading Hong Kong Symposium, co-organised by the Department of English Language and Literature at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and the literary journal Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, will take place online (unless the pandemic situation has substantially changed) on Friday 18 December 2020 and Saturday 19 December 2020.

 

Abstracts of 250 words for 20-minute presentations can be sent to Tammy Lai-Ming Ho (tammyh@hkbu.edu.hk) for consideration before Saturday 31 October 2020. Please also send us a bio of no more than 50 words. Scholars whose papers have been selected will be notified by Sunday 15 November 2020.

 

The languages of the 2020 symposium will be Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and English. We welcome both established and early-career academics to take part.
