高蒙博士的研究主要關注重污染區域(中國及印度)的污染形成機理及其對健康和氣候的影響。他利用氣象-化學耦合模型研究亞洲區域顆粒物和臭氧的化學、物理生成機理。他亦展示氣溶膠和輻射、雲的交互作用可以進一步促進氣溶膠濃度的升高。他也首次在模擬冬季霧霾污染過程中同化地表PM2.5濃度來提升模型模擬預測的準確度,而這些提升也可以進一步減小氣溶膠健康和氣候影響估計的不確定度。高博士亦發現秋季海洋的溫度可以被用來有效地預測印度冬季霧霾,讓我們可以在數個月前預知污染情況,為空氣污染控制策略的制定提供了重要的先兆信息。

 

除了創新的研究外,他亦展示了在協調國際學術交流合作的能力。他在一個有關氣溶膠-氣候相互作用模型對比的大型國際合作研究中扮演重要的角色,該研究有來自亞洲及世界其他國家合共30個研究團隊的參與。
