The Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun PhD Student Research Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony 2024 was kicked off by the opening remarks of Professor Wai Ping-kong Alexander, President and Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). He passionately expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr Kwok and the Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Charitable Fund for their generous support. This vital backing not only empowers postgraduate education in HKBU, but also plays a crucial role in the University’s relentless pursuit of excellence in education and research.

Attended by Mr Raymond Kwok, our generous donor, Professor Wai, Professor Liu Jiming (Acting Vice-President (Research and Development)), Dr Cheung King-ho (Executive Associate Dean of HKBU Graduate School), other distinguished guests and university staff members and students, the ceremony recognized the outstanding research achievements of seven exceptional PhD students, who showcased their innovative findings as they competed for the prestigious Research Excellence Awards.

Beyond honoring these talented researchers, the ceremony served as a catalyst for fostering collaborative and forward-thinking initiatives at HKBU. A poster exhibition and a mingling session complemented the award presentation, allowing participants to explore the impressive research projects of the awardees. These interactive sessions fostered an engaging atmosphere for knowledge exchange and academic discourse, reflecting HKBU’s vibrant research culture and commitment to nurturing future innovators and thought leaders.

The seven young researchers recognised for their significant contributions, demonstrated through high-impact publications and their presentations at the event, exemplify the University’s dedication to fostering research excellence.
