On 25 March 2025 (Tuesday), the Institute of Creativity (IoC) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) was abuzz with the hum of scholarly dialogue and the promise of new horizons as it hosted the annual Honorary Fellow Gathering luncheon. This cherished tradition, filled with anticipation and excitement, was chaired by Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU and Director of the IoC. The annual gathering was more than just an event; it was a tradition that had, over the years, become a catalyst for advancing academic synergy. In line with the IoC's mission to spearhead impactful research and nurture future talents, participants shared their pioneering work, explored new avenues for talent acquisition, and discussed strategies to enhance performance and promote interdisciplinary and theme-based research.

This year, two distinguished visitors of IoC, Professor Anna Shields (Department of East Asian Studies, Princeton University) and Professor Werner Sommer (Department of Psychology, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin), sparked vibrant exchanges at the IoC. During her HKBU visit, Professor Shields delivered a lecture on Song Dynasty cultural evolution and Tang literary legacy in collaboration with our Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute. Professor Sommer, an expert in biological psychology and psychophysiology, collaborated with HKBU’s Faculty of Science and Life Science Imaging Centre on biological psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Their engagements seeded meaningful dialogues, and underscored the IoC’s role as a regional hub for transdisciplinary knowledge transfer.

The IoC expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation for supporting the HKBU Visiting Fellowship Scheme, which facilitated the involvement of Professors Shields and Sommer. The connections forged at this event are expected to lead to productive partnerships, further elevating HKBU's research profile globally and fulfilling the IoC's mission to foster innovation and knowledge transfer in the region.
