群星闪耀 — 首个杰出研究成果奖颁奖典礼暨庆祝活动

Approaching the end of the year, we were thrilled to gather and celebrate our distinguished HKBU research community members at the inaugural Outstanding Research Output Awards Presentation and Celebration on December 5, 2024 (Thursday).

“Let’s keep the good tradition of creating a very nice ecosystem for research,” Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) of HKBU, initiated the event with an inspiring opening speech. He highlighted the importance of helping scholars stay relaxed, like having this celebration, to achieve further excellence.

Professor Lyu warmly welcomed and expressed immense recognition to the diligent scholars ranked among the latest World’s Top 2% Scientists, awarded prestigious accolades and funding from local, national and international organisations, and the exceptional recipients of this very first Outstanding Research Output Awards, honouring excellent innovative research outputs with an interdisciplinary approach that pushes the boundaries of knowledge. “Your achievements inspire not only your peers, but also the next generation of scholars,” remarked Professor Lyu.

He emphasised the vital four research clusters* and the importance of nurturing the junior researchers in the HKBU community. “I hope today’s celebration serves as a wonderful opportunity to connect, share stories, and celebrate each other’s success,” said Professor Lyu.

*The four research clusters are Creative Media and Practice, Health and Drug Discovery, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, and Humanities and Cultures.

After the magnificent award presentation ceremony, everyone celebrated a year of remarkable achievements. The joyous event fostered an atmosphere of camaraderie and cheer. Researchers, both seasoned and budding, mingled happily, sharing insights and stories. The year-end celebration was a resounding success, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a reinforced sense of community.

The “Outstanding Research Output Awards” is a new initiative to recognise and honour the excellent research outputs produced by the HKBU research community. The focus is on evaluating the merit and quality of individual research outputs, considering their originality, significance, and rigour.
