Professor Zhou Changsong, Head and Professor of the Department of Physics of HKBU, has been conferred the title “RGC Senior Research Fellow” in the inaugural RGC SRFS 2023/24. HKBU will receive a fellowship grant of around HK$7.8 million over a period of 60 months for Professor Zhou.

The RGC SRFS was introduced to provide sustained support to exceptionally outstanding academics to facilitate their research and promote research excellence. For each year, the ten SRFS awardees are selected for their research capability, contribution and potential impact of the proposed research project, proven research track record, leadership quality and vision in the chosen area of research. This year, Professor Zhou is one of the two SRFS awardees from the Faculty of Science of HKBU. His project aims to build a new theoretical framework based on a large-scale brain network model to identify effective strategies for modulating neurocognition and treating neuropsychiatric disorders, to test the strategies in data-driven computational models of individual brains, and to validate those in neuroimaging experiments. The selection panel was of the view that Professor Zhou’s proposed project would have translational values especially in a clinical setting.
