Book Publishing with Springer Nature
This session will explore book publishing with Springer Nature, with a particular focus on Humanities and Social Sciences scholarship in Hong Kong and wider East Asia. The presenter will demarcate and demystify the book proposal process, explain the differences between Open Access and non-Open Access publishing models, and outline what editors look for when evaluating monographs, edited volumes, and short-form and reference works. The workshop will provide practical guidance on developing a competitive book proposal, positioning research for international readership, and enhancing the visibility, reach, and impact of scholarly work. Particular attention will be given to the growing importance of research integrity and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), and considerations for auto-translation. The session will showcase relevant Springer and Palgrave Macmillan book series that publish work on and from APAC. Attendees are invited to meet with the editor after the session to discuss their publishing plans and research projects.
