Our heartfelt congratulations to Dr Han Bo, Assistant Professor from the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science, for receiving over HK$4 million in funding from the latest exercise of the YCRG under the CRF.
His awarded project “Towards Trustworthy Foundation Models under Imperfect Scenarios” aims to address the four grand challenges of robustness, safety, fairness, and reliability, and construct trustworthy foundation models (FMs) like ChatGPT, which can be further deployed to broader scientific and industrial applications. Dr Han's research team includes Dr Zhang Lu and Professor Cheung Yiuming from the Department, as well as other local collaborators.
The CRF supports innovative research and promotes collaboration across disciplines among various research groups, while the YCRG supports early-stage academic staff in gaining first-hand experience in leading and managing collaborative research, to better prepare them for competing for larger collaborative research funding in their next stage of career.
Again, congratulations to Dr Han for obtaining this significant funding. His research endeavour will advance the field of artificial intelligence and contribute positively to various sectors.
