We are pleased to share that two researchers from the HKBU Department of Computer Science Dr Huang Xin (Associate Professor) and Dr Zhang Lu (Assistant Professor) were awarded the latest Young Collaborative Research Grant (YCRG) under the CRF administered by the RGC. The two HKBU-led projects garnered over HK$9 million in this exercise this year.
Dr Huang’s project titled “Federated Graph Management and Querying: Subgraphs, Keywords, and Privacy" is a collaborative effort with researchers from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The project aims to pioneer innovative strategies for federated graph management and querying, emphasising addressing privacy issues and enhancing graph-based data processing and analysis.
Dr Zhang’s collaborative project with the City University of Hong Kong is named "Improved Metabolic Network Reconstruction and Metabolite Profiles Prediction using Complete and Strain-Resolved Microbial Genomes". It seeks to push boundaries in exploring the association between diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) and human gut microbiome by advanced sequencing and computational techniques.
This enlightening news fully demonstrates our early-stage researchers’ dedication to fostering innovative and top-tier interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations. It is a clear testament to the University’s role in driving advancements in computer science research.
