



We are thrilled to share the great news that Professor Han Bo (Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science), has been named one of 2024 “AI’s 10 to Watch” by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society’s IEEE Intelligent Systems, their first Artificial Intelligence (AI) publication. Professor Han is one of only two Hong Kong scholars selected this year.
With his research focus on machine learning, deep learning, foundation models, and their applications, Professor Han has earned multiple international distinctions, including the Outstanding Paper Award and the Most Influential Paper at the Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS), and the Outstanding Student Paper Award at NeurIPS Workshop. He has served as Senior Area Chair of NeurIPS and Area Chair of NeurIPS, International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) and International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR). He has also served as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI), the Machine Learning Journal (MLJ) and the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research (JAIR), and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Machine Learning Research (JMLR) and MLJ.
Established in 2006, the prestigious biennial award “AI’s 10 to Watch” celebrates young professionals for their early career accomplishments in this relatively new field. The ten awardees are considered rising stars with exceptional performance, groundbreaking innovation, and vision shaping the future of AI.
