Two HKBU physicists selected as 2021 Top Young Science and Technology Figures in China

Hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (中國科協) and co-organized by the Zhishexueshuquan (知社學術圈), the 2021 China New Technology Forum and the 2021 China Top Ten Emerging Science and Technology Figures Award Ceremony was held online on 6 November 2021. The theme of this forum was "Personal Growth of Scientists and National Strategies".
This year, Dr MA Guancong, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics, HKBU, was awarded the "2021 China Top-10 Rising Stars in Science and Technology". Dr ZHOU Yuanyuan, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics, HKBU, was awarded the "2021 China Rising Stars in Science and Technology - Shining Potential Award".
Dr Ma is in charge of the Acoustic Functional Materials Laboratory (www.acoustmeta.com) of the Department of Physics. He and his research group are committed to using the acoustic wave platform to study basic physics concepts, such as topological physics, non-Hermitian systems, etc., and also paying attention to the application research of acoustic metamaterials.
Led by Dr Zhou, the Advanced Semiconductor Research Laboratory (ΣLab: www.alvinyzhou.com) of the Department of Physics is committed to advancing the revolution of semiconductor technology, and conducting innovative research in the field of new semiconductors such as perovskites, from basic materials science and interdisciplinary perspectives.
