Project Description

The works of Archipelago Sierpinski are scored using modified instruments and found objects and explore the possibilities of modular structures. Each work consists of fragments or islands that can be performed or navigated following different paths forming structural archipelagos. Conceptually, the cycle is designed as a collection of collections or as a collection of archipelagos, where the structure of each work is modular, and the structure of the whole cycle is also modular, and for that reason the title alludes to the fractal structure known as the Sierpinski triangle.

In this version, two independent works of Archipelago Sierpinski were performed simultaneaously. Uslar/Gorong for soprano executing action inside piano and Helicoide/Bellatin for ondes Martenot, two resonant boxes and a sound sculpture; the result is a new superimposed modular structure.
