迎新聚力,迈向卓越:浸大科研社群齐聚Research Mingle敲响学年新篇章

On 4 September 2025, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) proudly hosted its Research Mingle – Welcome In & Back. The event brought together over one hundred members of the research community to launch the new academic year in a spirit of collaboration and excellence. Participants began their experience by a clear chime of a bell—an echo of good fortune—followed by the breaking of a fortune cookie that revealed a research‑themed message.

Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) and Dean of the Graduate School, opened with a message on building a strong research culture. He highlighted the need to maximise research efficiency, strengthen connections, and create an ecosystem that empowers scholars to realise their potential and generate academic impact.

A lively panel discussion followed, moderated by Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research Development). The panel featured Professor Christy Cheung, Director of the Research Office and Chair Professor in Information Systems and Digital Innovation Management; Professor Wang Jun from the Department of Chemistry; and Professor Gao Meng from the Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies. The panelists reflected on their career journeys, the importance of teamwork, and strategies for securing funding and building international research networks. Professor Lyu and Professor Johnny Poon (Associate Vice-President, Interdisciplinary Research) joined the stage to present souvenirs to the moderator and the panelists.

At the event, the Research Office introduced its services and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting scholars, offering resources from funding and publishing to community building and promoting research excellence.

The theme of a fortunate beginning carried through into the interactive activities. The live-print DIY tote bag station, for instance, became a vibrant hub that sparked conversations and connections among colleagues. By uniting scholars and support teams, the event fostered a strong sense of unity, cementing a collective optimism for the productive year ahead.
