HKBU Professor Han Bo elected Young Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering

Professor Han Bo, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), has been elected as a 2026 Young Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE). 

This latest recognition adds to a growing list of honours, including being named Research Grants Council (RGC) Research Fellow and receiving the CCF-Ant Research Fund 2026, jointly organised by Ant Group and the China Computer Federation (CCF).

“It is a great honour to be named a Young Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering,” said Professor Han. “This distinction reflects not only my own efforts but also the dedication and excellence of my research team, collaborators, and students. I am deeply grateful to the University, the Faculty, and the Department for fostering such a supportive environment for scientific exploration. Looking ahead, I remain committed to advancing robust, efficient, and trustworthy AI—spanning foundation models to causal learning—while applying these technologies to address pressing interdisciplinary challenges.”

A recognised leader in his field, Professor Han is ranked among Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists. He is also an ACM Distinguished Speaker, an IEEE Senior Member, and a recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including the IEEE AI’s 10 to Watch Award, the IEEE Computing’s Top 30 Early Career Professional Award, the IJCAI Early Career Spotlight, and the INNS Aharon Katzir Young Investigator Award.
