HKBU Research Office hosts gathering to warmly welcome new scholars

The Research Office of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) welcomed new researchers on September 9, 2024 (Monday) with a get-together celebrating the start of the Academic Year 2024-25. The gathering was held on campus and attended by faculty members, administrative staff, and the newly appointed scholars. 


The event kicked off with a warm welcome remark by Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research & Development) of HKBU. Professor Lyu highlighted the essence of the four research clusters and expressed his enthusiasm for the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that the new scholars are expected to bring to the university.

 
“We believe that interdisciplinary research is key to making impactful discoveries. By collaborating across different fields, we can address complex problems from multiple perspectives and develop comprehensive solutions,” Professor Lyu remarked, “As you begin your research journey with us, I encourage you to seek opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Engage with colleagues from different clusters, explore new approaches, and think beyond traditional boundaries. Our facilities, resources and teams are here to support your work, but it is the collaborative spirit that will truly drive innovation.” 


The afternoon continued with light refreshments and engaging conversations, providing the new scholars with an opportunity to mingle with their colleagues and familiarise themselves with the collegial environment and the University’s vibrant academic culture. The gathering concluded by setting the tone for a collaborative and inspiring academic journey for the new scholars.
