We are honoured to share that Professor Zhao Jun (Associate Professor, Department of Biology, HKBU Faculty of Science) has been awarded IAAM Scientist Medal by International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) in May 2025. This award recognises his interdisciplinary contributions to Green and Sustainable Catalysis, and his lecture delivery at the 64th Assembly of Advanced Materials Congress, held in Stockholm, Sweden, in late May this year.
Professor Zhao’s research focuses on environmental catalysis, with applications in biomass conversion, biowaste utilisation, biorefinery, bioenergy, and environmental remediation. His innovative work integrates advanced nanomaterials design and selection with process design to enhance conversion efficiency and develop sustainable waste-to-fuel and waste-to-energy technologies, advancing sustainable materials science.
IAAM Scientist Award and Medals acknowledge distinguished researchers and scientists at all stages of their careers, for their distinct contributions to Materials Science, Engineering and Technology. IAAM Scientist Medal is awarded to senior, mid-career, and early-career individuals who have created a professional impact with their fair amount of research in any field, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Medicine, Atmosphere, Ocean, and Planetary Sciences. IAAM keeps the nomination open to all, including researchers, professionals, policymakers, and government agencies.
