Research Mixer empowers HKBU scholars to ace NSFC grant applications

The Research Office (RO) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) hosted a session of its flagship "Research Mixer" series on 5 February 2026 to demystify the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grant application process.

Partnered with Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, the event featured five accomplished speakers who shared firsthand insights and proven strategies for crafting successful NSFC proposals for different categories. Supplemented by practical guidance from representatives from the RO and the Institute for Research and Continuing Education (IRACE), the mixer drew over 60 researchers from diverse faculties across the University, fostering an atmosphere rich with interaction and inspiration.
The highlight of the afternoon was the opportunity for researchers to learn from the known. Professor Ma Guancong from the Department of Physics, Professor Gao Meng from the Department of Geography, Professor Zhai Lixiang from the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development Limited, and Professor Lyu Xiaopu from the Department of Geography, alongside Professor Xu Chenjie, Associate Dean of the College of Biomedicine and Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering from the City University of Hong Kong, shared invaluable tips with the HKBU research community.
