Research Mixer with Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on ScienceOne platform

On May 22, the Research Office hosted a Research Mixer in partnership with the Faculty of Science, featuring researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) who introduced the ScienceOne platform and demonstrated its applications in Artificial Intelligence for Science (AI4S).

The core of the event was a 60-minute session featuring three specialised presentations by researchers from the CASIA.

Professor Zeng offers an overview of the ScienceOne platform's architecture and its capability to act as a foundational tool for technological innovation across various scientific fields.

Professor Li gives an introduction to S1-MatAgent, a system utilising AI and scientific reasoning to automate the discovery and precision design of new energy materials.

Professor Zhu demonstrates how AI and spatial intelligence are applied to perform high-speed fluid dynamics computations to solve practical industrial problems.

Professor Lyu explores if the ScienceOne platform is able to merge data or information from other fields, such as health science and social science, to foster interdisciplinary research and discoveries.

Following the presentations, the event concluded with a 10-minute Q&A and networking session. Attendees had the opportunity to discuss the technical specifications of the ScienceOne platform directly with the CAS experts. The sharing session successfully facilitated knowledge exchange, providing Hong Kong scholars with practical insights on how to integrate advanced AI tools into their scientific research and workflows.
