We are pleased to announce that three researchers from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences have been selected for the Research Grants Council (RGC) Overseas Research Fellowship Scheme 2026/27. The selected fellows will be hosted at leading global universities to engage in immersive international research collaborations.

The fellows:

  • Professor Gao Meng (Professor, Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies) will hold research fellowships at Harvard University, Nagoya University, and the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology. During his placements, he will advance his work in climate modeling, chemistry-climate interactions, and climate impacts and mitigation.

  • Professor Kevin Lo (Associate Professor and Associate Director, Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies) will head to the University of Melbourne. The fellowship offers Professor Lo an opportunity to look into his research interests, including climate change, political geography, urban geography and more, through a fresh academic lens.

  • Professor Andrew Loke (Associate Professor, Academy of Chinese, History, Religion and Philiosophy) will join Professor Gao heading to Harvard University. Having authored multiple books with leading academic publishers and articles in international journals, Professor Loke will leverage this international placement to further explore his profound scholarly interests in theology, philosophy of religion, science and religion, and more.

Our warmest congratulations to the three exceptional fellows on this recognition. We look forward to seeing the fruits of their international collaborations and wish them every success as they embark on these research journeys at the world's top universities.
