The HKBU Graduate School hosted a dynamic sharing session on the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) on October 4, 2024 (Friday), attracting over 30 academics and administrators. The session, facilitated by Dr Cheung King-ho, Executive Associate Dean of Graduate School, provided invaluable insights into the profiles of awardees from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).

Our distinguished panel featured Professor Xu Jianliang and Professor Clara Ho, both seasoned UGC panel members, who delivered a comprehensive overview of the HKPFS. They highlighted key aspects such as target applicants, assessment criteria, and strategies for crafting compelling recommendations for nominees.

In addition, we were privileged to hear from two current principal supervisors, Dr Bjorn Tam and Dr Matthew Lui, who shared their first-hand experiences with awardees. They emphasised the exceptional potential of HKBU’s well-rounded undergraduate students to become future HKPFS awardees. Their discussion also covered effective strategies for attracting, engaging and retaining nominees, along with tips on how to create impactful applications and recommendations.

Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many finding the session both useful and enlightening. Participants left with enhanced insights and strategies for navigating the Fellowship process.
