多角度反思疫情大流行

來自香港與海外的研究人員、學者和參加者在研討會上交流觀點,探索與疫情相關的國際和本地議題。

新冠肺炎改變了我們的生活各層面,同時為世界各地帶來形形色色的新挑戰。為進一步探討疫情大流行所造成的影響,浸大於5月20和21日舉辦「Transnational and Transdisciplinary Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic」國際研討會,從跨國與跨學科角度來反思新冠肺炎。來自香港與海外的研究人員、學者和參加者於線上和線下交流觀點,探索與疫情相關的國際和本地議題。

 

一連兩天的研討會由政治及國際關係學系主辦,體育、運動及健康學系和林思齊東西學術交流研究所支持,是社會科學院金禧紀念的重點慶祝活動之一。

 

研討會邀得來自澳洲、法國、香港、新加坡和英國共30多位學者和專家參加,並有來自非學術界人士參與。研討會共進行了三場專題討論和四場分組討論,講者就不同領域展開對話,探討疫情下經濟與金融市場所受的衝擊、國家管治和環境衛生等議題。

 

發表主題演講的Huw Wiltshire博士為威爾士欖球聯盟與俄羅斯欖球聯盟前發展總監。他分析新冠肺炎對精英運動員的影響,表示在疫情下各種特定訓練對精英運動員極為重要。他亦關注到體育如何在人與人接觸受限制的世界中持續發展。

 

在研討會的最後一場討論上,講者圍繞疫情過後世界所面臨的挑戰分享見解,認為新冠肺炎加速了科學發展,不過各地在防疫工作和推動創新之間須掌握平衡。講者亦看到危中有機,表示疫情帶出不少重要議題,值得開展跨學科研究作深入探討,而在抗疫期間中人們展現出應變能力、創新思維和創意,令人對後疫情世界感樂觀。

The symposium brought together over 30 speakers from Australia, France, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK, as well as a range of stakeholders from outside of academia.

The final roundtable was chaired by Prof. Cherian George, Associate Dean of Research and Development, School of Communication, HKBU. Members of the panel included: Prof. Julien Baker, Prof. Alistair Cole, Dr. Emilie Tran, Dr. Gao Yang, Prof. Jean-Pierre Cabestan and Prof. Richard Bernhart Owen.
