At HKBU, we recognise that talent is the cornerstone of innovation and scholarly excellence. In line with our mission to empower researchers, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment, one that cultivates an open and collaborative research culture. Through various initiatives, we invest in the next generation of academic leaders, enabling them to push boundaries and make transformative contributions to their fields.
Initiated by Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development), the Rising Star Research Grant, established in 2023/24, cultivates a sustainable and thriving research culture by identifying and supporting outstanding academic talents. Potential candidates are selected through a rigorous, data-driven evaluation of research performance, including publications, recognition, and grant success, together with nominations by Faculty/School Deans of their respective Faculties or Schools. These nominations undergo thorough review by senior leadership, including the Associate Vice-President (Research Development), Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research) and Faculty/School Deans, ensuring the grant rewards and elevates scholars demonstrating exceptional research promise and commitment.
