We are in great pride to share that HKBU’s excellence and expertise in interdisciplinary research have been recognised, attaining the 55th position worldwide in the inaugural Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings. Notably, HKBU is one of the five local universities ranked within the top 60 globally.
As the first of its kind, the Rankings evaluated 749 universities from 92 countries or territories to measure their contributions and commitment to interdisciplinary science. The performance indicators for assessment spanned three major areas: namely inputs (funding), process (measures of success, facilities, administrative support, and promotion), and outputs (publications, research quality, and reputation). The detailed methodology was based on 157 million citations, 18 million research publications, and survey responses from over 20,000 scholars from around the world.
To enhance HKBU’s research coherence and foster the alliances of our research strengths, the HKBU research community has been focusing on the four interdisciplinary research clusters: Creative Media and Practice, Health and Drug Discovery, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, and Humanities and Cultures. This accolade is a true testament to our efforts.
