Year-End Celebrations Showcasing Accomplishments of HKBU Esteemed Researchers
Our first year-end celebration party for HKBU esteemed researchers was held on December 13, 2023 in the HKBU Lounge. About 40 outstanding researchers and seasoned scholars from the seven Faculties and Schools gathered to celebrate their remarkable research achievements during 2023. They have been recognized as Highly Cited Researchers, the World’s Top 2% Scientists, Research Grants Council (RGC) Research Fellows and RGC Senior Research Fellows, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellows, and members of the Academia Europaea.
“It’s all your efforts,” Professor Lyu warmly conveyed his appreciation to every diligent researcher in the room through his illuminating speech. Everyone at the party indulged in the chill and relaxing atmosphere with good food and drinks, enjoying meeting and interacting with other brilliant minds. On the same day, Mr Daniel Zhang from Clarivate presented the Highly Cited Researcher Award certificate to Professor Lyu in person, with the company of Dr Mu Jingwen and Mr Jesse Xiao, Director and Assistant Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, Professor Christy Cheung, Director of the Research Office and others from the Office, and other Clarivate representatives. Professor Lyu received this esteemed award as his publications were ranked among Clarivate’s top 1% most cited publications this year. The award identifies the world’s most influential researchers whose peers have most frequently cited over the last decade. There are more than 6,500 researchers from over 67 countries and regions receiving this accolade this year.
At the occasion, Professor Lyu shared his vision of bringing HKBU’s interdisciplinary research and collaborations to a new height. Our guests from Clarivate expressed the intriguing methodology behind the Highly Cited Researchers list, leading to a vibrant discussion about leveraging data to help universities gain deeper insights into our researchers and their inspiring research work.
The award presentation and the celebration party truly enriched the day, infusing it with laughter, inspiration, and a deep sense of accomplishment for all involved. We eagerly anticipate further achievements and breakthroughs in the upcoming year of 2024.
