The Institute of Creativity (IoC) “CxC” Series features duo-led dialogues between two world-class professors to stimulate scientific inspiration, drive academic exchange, and foster impactful research collaborations. As the series flagship, the inaugural event will spotlight the IoC as a prestigious platform that connects HKBU with world-renowned scholars, elevating the University’s global research visibility and academic environment. In its original conception, the "CxC" stands for Chair Professor + Chair Professor, bringing together leading minds to join hands in showcasing HKBU's research strengths.
For this inaugural session, organised in partnership with the School of Chinese Medicine, we present: "The Cell That Cleans Itself: From a Novel Discovery to New Hope for Brain Diseases", exploring the science of autophagy—the cellular self-cleaning process—and its therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative disorders.
The discussion will feature two distinguished scholars:
Professor and Vice Dean, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Graduate School and Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo
Chair Professor and Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine, Ma Pak Leung Endowed Professor in Innovative Neuromedicine, Hong Kong Baptist University
