“研者匯粹”活動揭示協作研究金策略

The "Research Mixer – Unveiling the Collaborative Research Fund (CRF)" event was successfully hosted by the HKBU Research Office on February 1, 2024 (Thursday). The event brought together a diverse group of multidisciplinary researchers who are at the forefront of their respective fields. The key objectives of the event were to create a vibrant environment that fosters knowledge sharing and sparks collaborations among researchers from various disciplines.

“Don’t focus on what you know, but what you don’t know,” said Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, stating the significance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in generating innovative research ideas and thinking outside the box. He encouraged all researchers to explore the extensive resources available at HKBU and make optimal use of the central facilities. Professor Wai also articulated his particular attention to the needs of early-career researchers, offering them support and encouragement as they equip themselves to meet future challenges.

Professor Gao Meng, an awardee of the Young Collaborative Research Grant (YCRG) from the Department of Geography, shared his effective strategies for preparing and submitting grant proposals. He provided the audience with essential insights regarding the areas to emphasise in the applications and demonstrated his approach to forming a cohesive research team and establishing collaborations.

Professor Cai Zongwei, an awardee of the Collaborative Research Project Grant (CRPG) and Chair Professor in the Department of Chemistry, captivated the audience with his insightful experiences and valuable tips on the application process, stating the importance of establishing strong academic connections and collaborations.

Dr Snow Wang from the Research Office moderated a Q&A session, facilitating thought-provoking discussions among the participants and enabling them to gain valuable insights into strategies for building impactful research teams. 

The Research Office at HKBU remains committed to nurturing an inclusive and synergistic research community, empowering researchers to explore new horizons and contribute to advancements in a diversity of disciplines.
