Unveiling the four research clusters at “Research Mingle”

The eagerly anticipated event "Research Mingle - Unveiling the Four Clusters" was held on March 25, 2024 (Monday). Hosted by Professor Johnny Poon, Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research), the gathering shone a spotlight on the University's cutting-edge advancements across four vibrant research clusters: Creative Media and Practice, Health and Drug Discovery, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, and Humanities and Cultures. This stimulating session captivated a crowd of inquisitive researchers and enthusiasts, all keen to immerse themselves in the pulsating heart of interdisciplinary research. It was a day marked by invigorating discussions and a shared passion for the frontier of academic exploration.

 

At the event, Professor Poon revealed the measures in place to support cluster development and highlighted the stars that lie at the heart of our clusters: Creative Media/Practice is led by renowned Professor Jeffrey Shaw, Chair Professor of HKBU School of Creative Arts. The Health and Drug Discovery cluster is under the expert guidance of Professor Chris Wong from the HKBU Faculty of Science. Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence is driven by the esteemed Professor Xu Jianliang, Chair Professor in Computer Science of HKBU Faculty of Science. And for Humanities and Cultures, seasoned Dr Pan Jun, Associate Professor of the HKBU Faculty of Arts takes the lead.

 

The presence of President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Alexander Ping-kong WAI, JP further heightened the significance of the occasion. His profound thoughts and visionary outlook resonated deeply with the audience, affirming the importance of the four clusters in the realm of research and academia.

 

Furthermore, the event fostered networking opportunities and collaboration among attendees, creating a vibrant atmosphere of knowledge sharing and idea exchange. The enthusiasm and engagement of the audience were truly inspiring, reflecting their commitment to staying at the forefront of research and innovation.
