Prof. Keiichi Uchida is currently a professor of the Graduate School of East Asian Cultures and the Cultural Interaction Studies Major at Kansai University, where he has taught a list of courses on the topic of Cultural Interaction in East Asia. Prof. Uchida is regarded as a leading scholar in the field of Cultural Interaction and Linguistics, and he has published many journal articles and books in this area.
Numerous valuable materials exist for Chinese studies in relation to the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, which can be divided into two categories: one is intra-regional (local) and the other is extra-regional. This presentation talk focuses on introducing various foreign materials that can be used for special research on Chinese stylistics in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican China, as well as for the study of Northern and Southern Mandarin. It will also involve related issues of translation theory.
