BACK

The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, co-organised the IAPR/IEEE Winter School on Biometrics in Shenzhen on 24 to 28 January.

The programme equipped senior postgraduate students with up-to-date biometrics knowledge and provided an opportunity for them to develop their personal and professional connections for their future careers. The five-day programme attracted the participation of around 90 professors and senior postgraduate students from tertiary institutions world-wide.

Nineteen internationally renowned experts delivered lectures on the topics of mobile biometrics, anti-spoofing, template protection, and the fundamentals of different biometric modalities, which consolidated participants’ fundamental knowledge of biometrics and informed them of the latest development in the field. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of the lectures were conducted online.
