HKBU Research Office organises “Research Mixer – Embark on Discovery with Life Science Imaging Centre (LSIC)”
“Research Mixer – Embark on Discovery with Life Science Imaging Centre” was held on November 7, 2023 (Tuesday) at HKBU, with esteemed HKBU speakers including Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development), Professor Zhou Changsong, Director of LSIC, Dr Yu Rongjun, Associate Director of LSIC and a number of HKBU researchers from different disciplines like science, Chinese medicine, arts, creative arts, and business.
Professor Lyu initiated the event with an opening remark, welcoming HKBU researchers from various faculties and schools. “LSIC is a remarkable addition to our university and a significant milestone in our journey towards excellence in research and innovation,” he stated the significance of LSIC, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facilities, as an invaluable major research infrastructure to the University.
Afterwards, three LSIC representatives, Professor Zhou, Dr Yu and Ms Connie Ngo, a radiographer, provided everyone with informative presentations on the development status and operation plan, remarkable facilities and an overview of MRI safety issues of LSIC.
While the participating researchers demonstrated a genuine interest in utilising the LSIC facilities in their research endeavours, the invited researchers further shared with everyone their well-considered proposals to leverage the facilities in their individual and collaborative transdisciplinary research. Subsequently, there was a stimulating discussion over the usability and applications of the MRI facilities.
The inspirational sharing was seamlessly followed by an exhilarating in-person tour to LSIC guided by the dedicated LSIC representatives. Throughout the visit, the enthusiastic participants actively posed enlightening questions and engaged in in-depth and insightful discussions with Professor Zhou and other LSIC members, which marked a rewarding conclusion to the event.
