Professor Chan Shun Hing, Professor of the Department of Religion and Philosophy, has been named a Senior Fellow by the Centre for Theologically Engaged Anthropology at the University of Georgia in the US in recognition of his excellent contributions to the advancement of the sociology of religion.

Professor Chan’s research focuses on sociology of religion, church-state relations, and religion and social movements. He said he was excited and honoured to receive such recognition from social sciences professionals worldwide.

Founded in 2018, the Centre has been working to strengthen ties between the disciplines of anthropology and theology. Last October, Professor Chan worked with the Centre to organise a virtual international conference on “Rapid Religious Cultural Change”.
