HKBU hosts satellite event of IUPAP International Conference on Statistical Physics

The satellite meeting of the IUPAP International Conference on Statistical Physics attracted more than 150 participants, with additional over 20,000 attendees joined virtually.

The Institute of Computational and Theoretical Studies and the Department of Physics at HKBU hosted the satellite meeting of the 28th International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) International Conference on Statistical Physics from 2 to 5 August.

 

With the theme “Unifying Themes in Complex Systems Dynamics and Machine Learning”, the event brought together more than 150 participants, including internationally renowned scholars and researchers, with over 20,000 attendees joining virtually.

 

Prof Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School; Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research Development) and Dean of Science; Professor Zhou Changsong, Head of the Department of Physics; and Professor Tang Leihan, Director of the Institute of Computational and Theoretical Studies at HKBU, delivered speeches at the opening and welcome session on 3 August.

 

The conference served as a platform for intellectual exchange, covering various topics such as the exploration and dissemination of new generation research methods for complex systems, machine learning and AI and synthetic biology. The event was well-received by the research community, given the rapid expansion of machine learning and AI algorithms into biological research.
