HKBU chemistry student received Outstanding Presentation Award in HKSMS Symposium 2022

HE Zhao, a research postgraduate student of Department of Chemistry and State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis, HKBU, has received the Outstanding Oral Presentation Award at the Hong Kong Society of Mass Spectrometry Symposium 2022 and 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 11 June 2022 in Hong Kong.  The title of the presentation was "Exposure to Ambient Fine Particulate Matter Impedes the Function of Spleen in the Mouse Metabolism of High-fat Diet".  The research revealed the effects of PM2.5 and the function of spleen in lipid metabolism, thus may help the study of metabolic malfunction such as obesity and cardiovascular disease.  The research findings were published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jhazmat.2021.127129), an international journal in the areas of Environmental Science and Engineering.

 

With the same research topic, HE Zhao was also first runner-up at the 3-Minute Thesis Speech Competition organized by the Language Centre, HKBU.
