HKBU General Research Fund (GRF) awardees gathered for the second event of Research Mingle
The second event of the Research Office’s new “Research Mingle” event series was delightfully held on September 25, 2023 (Monday) at HKBU. The brilliant HKBU researchers who have been awarded GRF gathered and mingled enthusiastically with their fellow researchers from a range of disciplines, enabling more pioneering research ideas and cross-disciplinary collaboration initiatives.
With nice and hot refreshments and beverages served, the participating researchers started mingling with one another upon their arrival. Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) of HKBU, inspired everyone with the University’s strategic research directions. He also shared some tactful tips on successful major grant applications, from his experiences. “It’s all about timing and the research environment. Your thinking and views vary with time. Just think about it over and over again until your research idea and objectives are fully developed,” said Professor Lyu to the participants sitting in several circles on the sofas at HKBU Lounge.
“We should work together to create a research culture and environment that enables researchers to feel happy and encouraged, and fosters more collaborations, especially the transdisciplinary ones,” said Professor Lyu at the event.
Afterward, Mr Ivan Lau, Manager from the Research Office gave a presentation on the details of some of the Research Grants Council (RGC)’s collaborative research grants.
In the end, the participants enjoyed a light lunch and had inter-disciplinary exchanges with various fellow researchers, feeling rewarded and motivated.
